While hot summer weather is enjoyable, it often brings thunderstorms and a variety of other disturbances. Unfortunately, thunderstorms can cause outages, sags, surges, spikes, noise, etc. Not only are blackouts and brownouts annoying, but they can cause severe problems for companies. A 2014 post from Social Times stated that 90 percent of businesses unexpectedly lose access to their critical systems and one-third of companies deal with downtime every month. The average downtime in the U.S. is 7.9 hours per outage, which is significant when you think of the consequences.

Within that time, data can be lost, security breaches are more likely, productivity suffers and there is a loss of revenue due to the company being nonoperational. These setbacks can prove to be disastrous for companies, both in terms of financial and business losses, which is why power protection is so important. To help with these issues, Para Systems (News - Alert), Inc. announced today the release of the Minuteman Entrepid Series of uninterruptable power supplies (UPSs).

The Entrepid Series offers complete power protection designed to protect your most important equipment such as desktop computers, file servers, network devices, security systems, voice communications equipment and home entertainment systems.  How does it accomplish this monumental task? The product uses Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) technology to protect connected equipment from power brownouts and over-voltages. It also incorporates surge and spike protection. So, the previously mentioned list of consequences that result from things like thunderstorms are covered by the Entrepid Series. Most importantly, the new models provide critical battery backup during power outages, so you don’t have to worry about your equipment being jeopardized at any point during the blackout.

Speaking of impressive batteries, Minuteman’s Entrepid products have six on-battery receptacles, including two that are transformer-friendly and two surge-only receptacles. All models also provide hot-swappable battery replacement and independent battery bypass, which allows the UPS to function in AC Normal mode even when the batteries are dead. This provides voltage regulation as well as surge and spike protection.

Another helpful feature of the Entrepid models is that there is a LCD display which enables users to quickly and easily monitor all aspects of the UPS and utility power. The LCD shows power condition status, estimated battery backup time, battery capacity, total load and more. Not only that, but users can check power conditions in real time due to Minuteman’s SentryHD power monitoring software. The software is available at no additional cost and automatically saves and shuts down unfinished applications, while simultaneously shutting down computers during extended blackouts. Between these two features, users are able to check the status of their power protection device while also monitoring the overall power situation. The LCD screen and model can be seen below.

With technology like this, businesses can rest assured that their data, resources and equipment will stay safe during outages, sags, surges and spikes. Investing in power protection is essential to ensuring that you don’t end up wasting money on damage control. The Entrepid Series offers a standard warranty as well as an extended warranty, and is now shipping in the U.S., Canada, Central and South America.
